Pocket Substation Rebuild Project

SMUD proposes to construct and operate a new 230 kV substation that would replace the existing Pocket Substation. The proposed substation would convert or “step down” voltage from 230kV transmission lines to 69 kV subtransmission voltage through transformers and supporting equipment to safely reduce transmission voltages for local distribution.
