Description
The purpose of the project is to convert about a mile of asphalt median on San Joaquin Street into a shaded, landscaped greenway. Its purpose is to cool the corridor and reduce urban heat island effects for walkers and cyclists. Beneficiaries are Avenal's residents, a severely disadvantaged, heat-vulnerable farmworker community.
